Lofoten - Insider tips
By Stian
Norway offers a wide selection of national treasures with spectacular scenery and nature. In my opinion, Lofoten has it all.
The weather in Lofoten can be unstable so my first advice is to check the weather forecast and plan your trip for sunny days.
To really experience the best of what Lofoten has to offer, you need to travel around the Islands searching for your favorite spot and activity. Svolvær and the mainstream tourist attractions are nice, but there is so much more to explore for those who seek the extraordinary.
The Islands offer world class beaches of high quality. Every single one is unique so try to find your favorite.
The area is well known for its seafood and you should not leave before you have tasted at least on of the local specialities. Lofoten has a large variety of great restaurants serving you unforgettable food experiences.
While exploring the islands I strongly recommend you to try out spectacular activities such as sup, kayak, surfing or fishing. The possibilities are endless so just look up your favorite.
In summertime hiking to one of the many peaks in the area is a must do. My favorite is Reinebringen with its fantastic view over the small fisherman`s village at Reine.
The winter season is paradise for Randonee skiers.
A swim in the clear blue ocean is a must and will be a memory for life. In the summer the temperature is actually quite nice and refreshing. Try it out!
I would also advice you to visit several of the small villages to get a feel of the friendly and pleasant local people and enjoy the atmosphere.
Can you think of a better way to prepare for a perfect sunset making your own meal at the beach?
Finish a long day by the sea watching the sun set and get ready for a good night`s sleep under the stars preparing for the next day´s adventures. Enjoy and welcome to Lofoten!
